Having trouble with your battery life or want to make sure it’s never a problem? Look no further, we have you covered, follow these easy tips:
1. Brightness is KEY
Brightness is a huge battery eater and having your devices brightness constantly at 100% is basically asking for battery drain. First, turn off Auto-Brightness by going into to Settings –> Wallpapers & Brightness –toggle off–> Auto-Brightness. I would recommend setting your brightness at about 60-75 percent.
2. Turn off parallax/3D effect
The parallax feature is a nice to have, defiantly not a necessity. However, it does make your lock and home screens look cool. Of course it does drain battery, and also might drive you crazy. To turn motion effects off, go to Settings –> General –> Accessibility –toggle on–> Reduce Motion.
3. Turn off Background App Refresh
Background App Refresh basically allows apps to refresh their content or use location services in the background. Apple suggests that turning this off may help preserve battery life. To turn this off, go to Settings –> General –> Background App Refresh –toggle off–> Background App Refresh, or toggle apps that do not need to perform these functions.
4. Disable unnecessary Location Services
Location Services use GPS along with crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower locations to determine your approximate location. Of course things like Maps, Camera, Siri, and Find My iPhone are necessary to have on but I recommend disabling location on apps where location doesn’t make sense such as: Shazam, Stumble Upon, Team Stream. Also you will want to turn off systems services, Location-Based iAds and Diagnostics & Usage, to do this go to Settings –> Privacy –> Location Services –browse through location enabled apps– then go to System Services –toggle off–> Location-Based iAds and Diagnostics & Usage
5. Turn off Automatic App Updates
iOS 7 introduced automatic app updates within the App Store, making manual updates obsolete…or not, turn this off to extend your battery life even further. Plus, I would argue it’s nice seeing new features being introduced to apps.
